Skull Decor - Creepy or Cool?

I've quickly become a fan of Z Gallerie (even though we have none in the Philadelphia area), particularly their decor.  When I came across this skull decorative accessory in June, I just had to have it.  I'm not sure why since I'm not goth and it's nowhere near Halloween but there was something about it that I immediately thought was cool.

My friend Jodi loved it so much that she bought it for me - and one for herself.  I didn't think much of it until I came across a house tour on Apartment Therapy showcasing HGTV's Antonio Ballatore's home.  In this tour, I saw that Antonio has several skull items in his home and it got me wondering - is this a trend?  Here are a few pictures from his home.

While I haven't decided where exactly I'm going to put mine (I'm thinking on top of my dining room cabinet), I'm wondering if year-round skull decor is creepy or cool?  Or should we all just stick to Halloween?  Here are few other skull items I've come across:

Bold Bedroom or Old Bedroom?

I haven't updated for a few days as it's been a hectic week and I haven't been able to do much around my house.  I won't be able to update for the next couple of days either due to an unexpected trip to Florida so I thought I'd take this opportunity to ask for some opinions.  I know I haven't shown any pictures of my current bedroom (it's far from being ready to be photographed!) so just give me your honest opinion of the two photos below.  Which do you prefer?

A dark gray bedroom with pink accents?

Or a light blue and white bedroom with a coastal feel?

Before I moved, my old bedroom looked similar to the second photo.  Bluish-teal accents, cream pintuck duvet cover, white furniture.  I loved climbing into bed at night but was looking for a change.  I saw the top photo last fall in a magazine and decided when I moved that it would be the inspiration for my new room.  I loved the bold dark gray, old fashioned chandelier, and the pink tapped into my girly side.  So, I painted my walls a dark gray (Benjamin Moore's Amherst Gray) and got a gray duvet cover and pink pillows (I kept the white furniture).  I LOVE the dark gray paint color, however, I'm just not getting the warm and cozy feeling that I had before so I'm thinking about changing it back.  Comment below and let me know your thoughts!  If I get over the embarrassment of the way my room looks now at it's semi-bold state, I'll be sure to post a pic.
