I decided to start this blog because I feel like I live and breathe my corporate job and need something else to focus on that might fulfill me. Luckily, I just bought my first home in June 2011 and I am spending time renovating it (and by renovating I don't mean big bucks, demolition or interior designers) with paint, new pictures, some new furniture and a lot of love. Just by researching home decor online, I've been opened up to new ideas and DIY projects that have gotten my creative juices flowing. I also love to cook and am enjoying cooking in my new kitchen so I thought if I started a blog, it might force me to start making all those recipes I've been saving up in my overextended recipe book and I can share them with you.
I'm an avid reader so I might show you what I'm reading each week, not that you may care but because I can. And because maybe you might want to read it too.
I've never been someone who likes a lot of attention or wants to make situations only about me so this blog is a bit of stretch for me. I may come to find that my life is dreadfully boring or I might find a real pleasure or new excitement out of it. Basically, I don't know what I'm doing but figure it's worth a shot so here it goes...wish me luck and good luck to you!
For those wondering - Saltines and Icing is the name of my blog because it was a snack my mom and I used to have when I was younger. After living without her for 20 years, I still eat the treat to this day and can't help but think of her with each yummy bite. So the name is not only in remembrance of her but to remind myself that life is both salty and sweet so I might as well sit back and enjoy it.
